Rachel + Paul | Rock Creek Wedding Teaser

Where to begin? I have known Rachel for many years, and still remember the first time we met. I was a little tipsy and thought she was mysterious and delightful, so I tried really hard to hold it together and make a good impression. I don't think I did a very good job, but we became friends in the coming years nonetheless! While life prevents us from seeing each other every day, she holds a special place in my heart as a kindred who lives life deeply, passionately, and especially creatively.

As long as I've known Rachel, there has been Paul. He's quiet, giving, kind, and easy on the eyes. It's easy to see why Rachel fell for him; why they fell for each other.

Photographing this wedding was such a delight. A quiet first look in a majestic wood, ladies in lavender hues, gents in vests, barefoot and sockless, expansive farmland and bubbles for days. Rachel kept saying it was more than she could have ever dreamed. As I relayed this sentiment to Dan today, I was overcome with emotion. We both know that feeling well.

Here's to you, my dears. Live well, love deep.

Annie + Eric | Cleveland Engagement Session

Thwarted by weather and circumstances twice, we finally happened upon a perfect morning to hang out and take photos! Annie and Eric are true sweethearts, hysterically witty and always ready with the biggest, most genuine smiles. I even got to witness their secret handshake, snippets of which I will reveal below! Goodness, I love my job!

STACEY + DAVID | Mentor Headlands Engagement Session

Let me just say that beyond loving the banter and energy and sweetness between these two, I am enamored with them as human beings. As soon as we started to chat, my protective introverted shell melted and we all just. . . relaxed.

A gorgeous spring day at Mentor Headlands provided us with a magical sun-kissed setting in which to slow down and enjoy a process that can sometimes be a little unnerving to those of us (including myself!) who tend to be a little self conscious when a camera is looming nearby. I always consider it such a sweet triumph when I see luminous authentic smiles looking back at me while I edit!

Stacey and David, I loved every minute of our time together, this parenthetical moment in your story of what was and what will be. You have touched my heart, and I wish you all of the delight, wonderment, and light that life has to offer.

LIZ + BILL | Euclid Wedding Teaser

Liz and Bill were blessed with an absolutely gorgeous day for their wedding celebration. I was so enamored all of the lovely bits and baubles Liz included, from her gorgeous heirloom necklace to cute unicorn figurines. The icing on the cake, however (aside from the literal icing, that is) was her sweet musical performance for all of her adoring guests! What a blast! Congratulations, you two!

Stephanie and Seth = SMILES FOR MILES! We had such a blast hanging out at Brown's Stadium for their big day. The yellow and grey palette was so artfully executed in all of their designed paper goods, and doesn't your mouth just water as you gaze upon that beautiful dessert bar? I am looking forward to "overtime" with these two as we "kick off" our trash the dress session next week. Sorry. . . I can't help myself!

These two! How many superlatives am I allowed to bestow? Perhaps the most important thing I could possibly mention is that Reena and Jody are so genuinely kind and good hearted, and to experience their incredible union made me look at my own relationship with fresh eyes. I love imagining a vintage map with little black footsteps originating from Wickett, Texas and Cincinnati Ohio converging on Cleveland and exploding into a cascade of hearts that ripples off the page. Sigh. . .

CHRISTY + NICK | Cleveland Wedding Teaser

Spring 2013 in Cleveland has been nothing short of glorious. I'm particularly glad that the weather was so stunning for Christy and Nick, two seriously good looking Connecticut go-getters who decided to get married in the bride's hometown. There were members in the wedding party from both American coasts, and it was so fun to hear all of the complimentary adjectives being tossed around as we drove through University Heights, the Cultural Gardens, and a downtown awash in golden light.

Christy and Nick lead superlative lives, but from my perspective, one of the most impressive aspects of their relationship is their ability to move beyond the loss of their home during Hurricane Sandy. It's so obvious that they've caught a glimpse of the simple, sustaining aspects of life that give us the strength to overcome adversity.

SUSAN + DAVID | Nashville Wedding Teaser

I've never seen two bigger smiles. Two lovely smiles who attended the same college but didn't start dating until they converged in Nashville a bit later! On the inside of David's ring is a Greek phrase meaning "my favorite thing" - when Susan and David started dating, David would say that she was his. . . you guessed it. . . favorite thing.

AMBER + CHUCK | Impossible Project photographs

I can honestly say that every wedding we photograph offers up a unique beauty, whether it be through fingerprint-rare narratives, family and friend dynamics, or the surprising little moments that no one expects but end up being cherished, like a bookmark in the pages of memory.

Amber and Chuck's wedding was brimming with all of these varied elements, to be sure, but also provided us with a very special opportunity to stretch our creative muscles. Chuck and Amber's Austin wedding at The Hotel Saint Cecilia (can I just say OMG? More on this story in the teaser!) was SUPER DUPER teensy. See those chairs in the first photograph below? All the guests were seated there. The intimacy of the day paired with the choice to go sans bridal party gave us the opportunity to spend TONS of time with the bride and groom, who happen to be nearly carbon copies of Dan and I! Amber and Chuck have a love and admiration for the vintage and the analogue, whether it be music, tchochkes, or film. When Amber expressed her desire to introduce Polaroids into the mix, we jumped at the chance. It's not difficult to take the occasional instant photo at a typically busy wedding, but on this day we were able to document aspects of the whole day, which was absolutely marvelous. One of my very favorite parts of the day was after dinner, when we spread out all of the photographs onto a table and pointed out what we liked about each one; the slight painterly blur of one portrait, the unexpected color of another. It was really special to us - don't think we didn't leave giddy!
