Weddings
Tara and Clint
Tara and Clint’s simple but wonderfully elegant garden wedding at the lovely O’Neil House in Akron, Ohio.
Noel and Jeremy
If Noel and Jeremy had a stressful time REplanning their wedding after Jeremy’s Army duties forced a move-up in the festivities it certainly did not show on their lovely winter wedding day. Cleveland’s Windows on the River is airy, light, and wide open, with breathtaking views of the city both sun up and sun down. Both the wedding and reception were held in the same space at Windows, and the staff did a stellar job of making the change over as smooth as could be!
Noel and Jeremy are a sweet, energetic, and vibrant couple, and I wish them the best of luck in their marriage and brand new home in Tennessee!
Joanna and Jack
Cozy, warm, intimate, and elegant. Throw in two smart cookies with matching wits and you have yourself a perfect little wedding. Joanna and Jack were married at the O’Neil House in Akron with just 22 guests in attendance. Because of the frozen clime, the entire ceremony and reception took place inside. Not to worry, though. Every nook and cranny of this beautiful bed and breakfast was absolutely photogenic. My favorite part of the ceremony was the fact that the guests watched the bride and her parents descend a gorgeous flight of stairs into a foyer where they were all standing, and then followed the bride and groom into the grand room where vows were exchanged. Such a lovely surprise for the guests!
During our little photo break during cocktail hour, I got to spend a some time alone with the couple. As I took photos of them, they quoted Keats and Beowulf for one another. I asked Joanna if she could speak Middle English in a New York accent. She totally did.
Enjoy. Congratulations, Joanna and Jack!
Katrina and Lee
Katrina and Lee are sincerely one of the kindest couples I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. So much handiwork went into the reception that I couldn’t resist including all of the little details. If you are a CLE bride and groom, you should really consider their reception venue, smARTspace at 78th Street Studios . It has an elegant yet urban feel and is flanked with working artists’ studios!
Mintus-LoPresti Wedding
It’s all in the details, and if those details happen to be handcrafted by a talented artist-bride it’s even better! When I met this creative couple I knew that their wedding would be punctuated by aesthetically beautiful moments, both aurally and visually. I mean, Sigur Ros as a processional? I would have swooned had I not had a job to do!
I instantly bonded with Kristen because we are both artists with significant others who are musicians. She seems incredibly patient with his touring schedule (the groom, Michael LoPresti, is in the fabulous Cleveland band The Lighthouse and the Whaler), probably partially because she is so busy creating beautiful things! Kristen’s birdcage veil and the chandeliers in the reception hall were both handmade. The bridesmaids were adorned with henna and each wore different colors and styles of shoes; a wonderful way to really allow their personalities to shine!
The ceremony was incredible! It was very hot, and parasols were provided to heat sensitive guests. What a beautiful sea of yellow and red circles! The wedding was outdoors, and the trees behind the wedding party were decorated with lanterns, bits of fabric, and bird cages. The couple wrote lovely vows for one another (you can see Kristen’s handmade scroll in the photos) and planted a tree together as a symbol of their growing union. The recessional was made extra special by the release of hundreds of yellow balloons, which set my photographer’s heart a flutter!
I hope you enjoy these selected images from the ceremony. Suzuran Photography is now booking weddings for next summer and has a few slots available for Fall 2010 weddings for you last minute couples! Click here for details!
Lauren and Shawn
Even before I formally met Lauren I knew she was a nice woman. No, beyond nice. Sweet in a way that makes you smile when you hear her voice or see her walk in the room. She and Shawn are a perfect fit. They’ve been together for a while, and their wedding ceremony and reception seemed to flow with the ease that comes with knowing each other REALLY well. Of course, Laurens meticulous planning had something to do with it.
The wedding was held at the lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake, overlooking stunning Lake Erie on a crystalline day. The reception was held the following weekend at Windows on the River, which is part of the Powerhouse in the Flats of Cleveland. The couple couldn’t have asked for two more perfect days.
Lisa and Nevada
I’ve known Nevada pretty much his whole life, and intimately knew how much it meant to him when Lisa accepted his marriage proposal. I was so pleased that Lisa and Nevada asked me to document their precious day. Although this was the second wedding I shot at Meadow Ridge Farm, I was taken aback at how different and beautifully arranged each occasion was for the particular desires of each couple. I loved the intimacy of Lisa and Nevada’s small wedding party, and the fact Nevada’s parents are the owners and operators of Meadow Ridge Farm made it a wonderfully harmonious family affair!

Jolie and Mark
I met Jolie through a mutual friend a few years ago. The first thing I noticed was her stunning beauty. The second thing I noticed was her rapid-fire wit, megawatt smile, and ability to make everyone feel special and welcome.
I was so pleased when she invited me down to Nashville to photograph her marriage to Mark Bond.
Please check back for more details and images regarding this beautiful two day celebration!
