Human beings are passionate about stories. We love to tell them, hear them; especially overhear them. Our own personal narratives are our most precious stories. Personal narratives are memory incarnate; utterly subjective, and rarely linear. The photos in the series Narrative Gestalt represent an attempt to visualize the way we make meaning by processing individual experiences and linking them to something familiar, creating an entirely new entity: a story greater than the sum of its parts. The series particularly recalls pieces of the two years of my life spent in Japan. By layering images/moments in time, I create an overarching feeling of the experience as a whole.
NOTE: This series was on display at The Greenhouse Tavern from November 2009 to February 2010. For the love of all that is delicious, sustainable, and local, please visit soon. All works are for sale – please contact me for information.
